Lafley, who in his early career, had been commissioned in the US Navy as a supply officer, during the Vietnam War, frankly felt that it was a case of ‘duty called’. McDonald, who was handpicked by Lafley to head P&G in June 2009, had difficulty in spurring growth at the company and was criticized by market analysts for P&G’s lagging performance. Under McDonald, P&G cut its profit forecasts three times during the fiscal year 2012 and profits declined for three straight years since his takeover from Lafley in 2009 . |
